B & Q NeiHu

B & Q NeiHu is a composite shopping mall for interior decorations, located on the underground floor of the mall, but the check-out counters are located on the 3rd floor. Therefore, the disabled with wheelchairs must take the appropriative elevator. HOLA mall is on the 1st and 2nd floors of the building. The parking lots are on the 3rd and undergroundt floor. There is no restaurant in the mall, only a simple café on the 3rd floor and a simple food court on the 4th floor. There is also Wi-Fi service in the mall. If the disabled takes a taxi, please have the pick-up/drop-off at the entrance of SinHuSan Road and MinShan Street, which is easier for access.

BeiTou Hot Spring Museum

The Hot Spring Museum was originally the BeiTou public bathing house, which has been dictated as Class 3 Historic Building after restoration. The exhibitions in the museum are divided into 2-stories; the public bath is on the 1st floor and no longer in use. One can see the history of local hot springs, relevant facilities, the appliances used in the hot springs, BeiTou stones, and the bathing space. Wheelchairs can enter through the incline path. Outside, there are several parking spaces and washrooms for disabled on both sides of the Museum.

BiHu Park

BiHu used to be called DaBiHu. It’s located within 2km from DaHu Park. There are often Egretta Garzettas flying over or stopping for a rest. Then later on, they developed a Holiday Jade Market at HePing E. Road to SinYi Road under the ChineGuo N. Road bridge. The ChienGuo Holiday Flower Market is currently under the assistance of the Department of Economic Development Taipei City Government, and the sales are mostly direct from the flower growers or origin, therefore the price is quite reasonable, moreover there is often the activities such as the agricultural exhibitions and free gardening teaching etc.

CihYou Temple enshrines the “Black Face Mazu” from MeiJhou TangShan in China. The temple was founded in year 18 of the Cing CianLong Dynasty. Civic Hall SinYi

Taipei Confucian Temple celebrates a grand ceremony in memory of  Confucius every September 28th.. The ceremony follows ancient rituals dated from the Ming Dynasty. DaAn Wood Park has become a new place for leisure activities since 1994. With all the forest plants in the park, it has gained the nickname “green lung” of Taipei City. The premise of the park was originally occupied by several  old military residence villages. After tearing down the villages and relocation of the residents, now the park includes three park roads passing through the whole park in length and breadth, also the outdoor musical stage which often hosts performances. DaYeh Takashimaya is a department store with Japanese affiliation and style. It opened in the TianMu area many years ago. There are many well-known restaurants and a department selling audio/video devices. On the 4th Floor, there is a Japanese Kinokuniya Bookstore; on the 3rd floor, there are the fashion departments for males, children and formal wears, and even a hair salon for children! The female fashions and hair salon are located on the 2nd floor. This department store is different from other newly built department stores. It was here that the washroom accessibility for the disabled was first established in a department store.

Discovery Center of Taipei

Door to Door Service for the Disabled

In order to provide disabled-accessible transportation to meet the needs of more seriously disabled people, Taipei government authorizes civic organizations to operate Door to Door Services for Disabled,  providing pick-up/drop-off services with a fee only one third that of a taxi. Its service range is within the service area of Taipei city joint operation buses. Services to DanShuei, BaLi, LuJhou, SanChong, WuGu, SinJhuang, BanCiao, YongHe, JhongHe, TuCheng, SinDian, SiJhih, ShuLin, YingGe, SanSia, TaiSan, ShenKeng and ShihDing are also available . But the pick-up/drop-off point must be within the Taipei city limit. Reservation is required. So far, there are approximately 137 buses providing this Service for Disabled.

ErZihPing Rest Area - YangMingShan National Park

It is located in the volcanic basin of DaTun Mountain and ErZihShan. Due to its location in the subtropics and its warmth, there are a large number of plants. It is a great place for observing butterflies, birds, and ecology. Moreover, ErZihPing has a wooden trail, 1.7km in length, allowing access for the disabled. The park opens from 8am to 6pm. Among its many facilities, there are hands-on eco-pond, narration signs, rest pavilion, and picnic tables and chairs.

Hsing Tien Temple

Dedicated in 1968, The Taipei Hsing Tien Temple enshrines the Imperial Sovereign Saint Guan (Guan Gong). It is also called the EnJhu Temple (temple of salvation sovereign). There is always incense burning and it is an important cultural heritage site that foreign visitors must see for themselves. On the eve of every lunar new year, at midnight, crowds of followers will rush to burn the first incense. This has become a very eventful folk activity in Taiwan. Along with the original Taipei temple, SanSia temple and BeiTou temple were built earlier. Compared to the crowds and noises at Taipei Hsing Tien Temple, their atmosphere are more tranquill and peaceful .

Ketagalan Culture Center

The Ketagalan Culture Center is the first cultural museum that is dedicated exclusively to the aborigines in Taiwan. The Ketagalan people belonged to The PingPu tribe which mostly occupied the northern areas in Taiwan. “Ketagalan Culture Center” was named in their memory. On the 1st floor, there is a store selling aboriginal handcrafs; B1 is the displaying area for the contemporary aboriginal artists; on the 2nd floor, there are exhibits of the PingPu cultures; and the 3rd floor is the exhibiting area for all the other tribal cultures. Lin An-Tai Historical Home

In 1754, Lin Cin-Ming (also known as Lin Yao-Gong), a native of AnSi, FuJian Province, brought his family across the Strait to Taiwan. His fourth son was an expert at trading business. Therefore, his mansion was named “AnTai Home”, a combination of AnSi FuJian Province and his company, RongTai Coporation. It is one of the oldest residences in Taipei City.

MaoKong Gondola

The MaoKong Gondola is a merging tourism spot in Taipei. The gondola will take you on a scenic tour with unobstructed view. The disabled with wheelchairs can enter the car directly. Service staff will be also available at all stations to provide. Even though the touristic route hasn’t been completed, many people still come for the Gondola experience. For those who wish to take the gondola, you need to take the metro to Taipei Zoo Station, then walk for about 350m to the MaoKong Gondola Station. Only one wheelchair is allowed in each car and 2-4 companions are needed to sit evenly on both sides of the car.

NanGang Tea Demonstrative Manufacturer

National Taiwan Museum

National Taiwan Museum is located in the 228 Peace Memorial Park. After tearing down the TianHou Temple built in Cing Dynasty, it was rebuilt according to classic western architecture during the Japanese Occupation. It is approximately one hundred years old since its completion. It is full of historical values, from the Greek temple style entrance to the luxurious decoration inside. In order to establish the museum as a disabled-accessible facility, a lot of effort was taken to integrate the access and ramps into the ancient architecture.

The National Taiwan Science Education Center was established in 1956, and relocated from the old site at the NanHai Education Zone to the new site in ShihLin in 2003. RaoHe Street Night Market

RaoHe Street Night Market begins at Section 4 BaDe Road (in front of CihYou Temple) and extends to the cross road of FuYuan Street, with a length approximately 600 meters. It is the first tourist night market in Taipei and also a popular place for foreign tourists savouring Taiwanese snacks. There are some famous booths in the night market such as traditional bean jelly, O-A Mi-Sh (oysters noodle soup), ChengBanJhang Beef Noodle and chops stew with Chinese herbal medicine. ShihLIn Night Market is well-known in the world. It is located across the street from the metro JianTan Station, and it has also spread over an area that includes the YangMing Theather, extending to WunLin Road, JiHe Road, DaDong Road and DaNan Road.

Once the sun sets, it becomes a very busy place with numerous shoppers. There are more than 500 booths and shops in the night market, including small bread wrapped in a large bread, squid thick soup, frog eggs (pearl sago) etc. These are the MUST-TRY snacks for visitors.

Taipei 228 Memorial Museum

Taipei ShaHai Cheng Huang Temple

Taipei Story House

The Taipei Story House is located on the Taipei JiLong River bank right next to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. It is a small house with British Tudor architecture, built by a DaDaoCheng tea business man named Chen Chao-Jyun during the Japanese Occupation period. The house was named YuanShan Villa. The first floor was built with red bricks, and the wall on second floor was built with curvaceous wood sticks. Inside, there are gorgeous fireplace, beautiful tiles and ceiling lamps.

Taipei Welfare Center for the Disabled

The Taipei Welfare Center for the Disabled is a historic site. Its overall presence is in a modern style, but the window design, the interior gallery and hallways were built in wood with European classic tincture. The Building was used for an employment agency and training center in 1930 during Japanese Occupation period. Afterwards, it became the Taipei City Department of Health and is now transformed to a place for activities, exhibitions, performances and gathering for disabled groups and individuals, under the management of the Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government.

Taipei World Trade Center

Taipei World Trade Center includes the International Trade Building, International Convention Center, and Grand Hyatt Hotel. Its 3 exhibition halls were completed in succession. Hall 1 is the largest exhibit hall in Taiwan, with services for import/export trades. International Trade Mart for each trading business is located on its second floor and above. Hall 2 was designed as a multi-function hall for performances with a cross-bridge connecting to Taipei 101. Hall 3 is for mostly small to mid-size exhibitions. The Taipei World Trade Center has all kinds of large and small exhibitions related to food, fashion, accommodation, transportation, education and entertainment all year around.

Taipei Zhong Shan Sports Center

There are seven floors within the center (4 floors above and 3 floors below ground), including a swimming pool, gym, communal classrooms and composite stadium. Currently, a private organization is authorized by the government to operate the Center, to provide the citizens sports, leisure activities, arts, cultures, entertainment, and social education. Taipei ZhongShan Hall

The Taipei ZhongShan Hall includes many small buildings assembled into a unified complex. It has been dedicated as a Class 2 historical building in Taiwan, and previously known as the Taipei Society. After restoration, the original society hall was made into the city hall, and renamed ZhongShan Hall. It was also once the Taipei Astronomical Museum. In the past, it was often the place where the government received foreign dignitaries, among the most well-knowns was Mr. Richard M. Nixon, the former president of USA.

Taiwan High Speed Rail

At its fastest, the high speed trains can reach a speed of 300km/hour. Taiwan High Speed Rail began operation in 2006. To date, it stops at 8 stations: Taipei, BanCiao, TaoYuan, SinJhu, TaiJhong, JiaYi, TaiNan and ZuoYing. In the future, there will be four more stations: NanGang, MiaoLi, JhungHua and WunLin.
Every 7th car on the high speed train is a disabled-accessible car with disabled-accessible washrooms. Moreover, all the stations of the Taiwan High Speed Rail are disabled-accessible.

Taiwan Storyland

By taking the metro, you can easily reach the largest reminiscence exhibit in Asia, the Taiwan Story Land, a reconstruction of 1965. Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation

During Japanese Occupation, government’s marketing businesses were under monopoly. Monopoly Bureau was the department to control all the monopoly businesses in Taiwan. This building was also one of the important governmental architectures during early days of the Japanese Occupation, This architectural heritage is of British Renaissance style with luxurious exteriors, Mansard roof, Oeil-de-Boeuf, guard tower, and solid embossed mural, radiating the Baroque expressions. It is currently occupied by the Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation.

The Lin Yu-Tang House

The Lin Yu-Tan House is an excellent work of architecture, designed personally by the literature master himself. It was the last residence of Lin Yu-Tang for ten years before he past away. The architectural style uses the structure of the Chinese ShiHeYuan (Four-Section Compound Country-House) and mixed with exotic Spanish style. Mr. Lin Yu-Tang’s manuscripts and relics can be seen inside the house, as well as exhibitions about his life. This premise is also used for cultural seminars, dining and recreation.

The Mayor’s Residence Arts Salon

The Mayor’s Residence was built in1940, during Japanese Occupation period. It is a typical model of the “Mixture of Japanese Style” residence, which is quite unusual among the historic buildings. Most of the former Taipei City majors once lived here while they were in office. In 1998, it was renovated and formally reopened to the public.  It has a café and place for exhibitions, performances and activities of arts and literates. There are frequent literature programs and all sorts of seminars and exhibitions.

TianMu Rainbow Riverside Sport Park

The TianMu Rainbow Riverside Sport Park opened in 2000. It’s approximately 16.8 hectares. Inside the park, there are tennis court, skating rink, children’s playground, small outdoor theatre, and basketball court. There is also a baseball diamond located right next to the park. This is the sports and leisure center of Taipei City and TianMu area. Next to the tennis court, there is a washroom for the disabled.

Water Museum

The Water Museum was built after the classic Baroque style. It is a park dedicated to tap-water with a hand-on aqua-experience park. The Taipei Water Department restored the original features of the pump

ZhiNan Temple

The ZhiNan Temple, general called SianGong Temple, is the most famous Taoism temple in northern Taiwan, first built during Cing Dynasty the GuangSyu Year (1890), enshrining a master god, God FuYou, Celestial Master Lyu ChunYang. In side has ChunYang, LinSiao, and DaSyong, three major holy temples, magnificent glory and incense is always flourishing, it is the best place for religion or a tour. Visitors can come via the MaoKong Gondola.

ZhiShan Cultural and Ecological Garden

Previously, the ZhiShan Cultural and Ecological Garden housed a department of the military intelligence bureau, then the structures were reclaimed and piece by piece restored by the Department of Culture, Taipei City government, and now redesigned as a place for educational and recreational functions. At present, ZhiShanYan management office of Wild Bird Society of Taipei City is in management. This is the first cultural ecological garden in Taiwan. The first floor of the exhibition room has a disabled-accessible washroom.

ZhongShan Fine Arts Park

The ZhongShan Fine Arts Park is located next to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, previously known as the YuanMingYuan and Rainbow Hote owned by the military. The park’s area approximates 10.5 hectare and it is the first fine arts park in Taiwan.
